(3 cr.) Every semester. P: Written consent of instructor. Faculty-directed study of aspects of sociology based on field experience, in conjunction with directed readings and writings. Specifically, each intern is required to keep a daily or weekly journal that is given at regular intervals to the faculty sponsor, and write an analytic paper dealing with the field experience.

Through a series of vocabulary, grammar information, illustrations, dialogues, exercises, and cultural notes, the course prepares health professionals to communicate better with Spanish-speaking patients. May be taken concurrently with other Spanish language courses but cannot serve as a replacement for any of these courses and does not satisfy the School of Arts and Sciences foreign language requirement.
