Authors may include, but are not limited to, Charles Dickens, George Eliot, Thomas Hardy, Joseph Conrad, Virginia Woolf, Graham Greene and Martin Amis. An examination of selected topics of linguistics as they relate directly to first and second language learning. The course may focus in different semesters on such topics as phonology and language learning, syntactic theory and language learning, or discourse and language learning.
