Students learn to describe the developmental changes that occur in the teeth and the mandible and maxilla during development of the occlusion; developmental changes that occur in the relationships between the teeth, and those that occur in the maxilla and mandible as an individual passes through the stage of development of occlusion; and factors involved in the etiology of malocclusion. ?Lectures provide instruction on?identifying those factors that influence the development of occlusion,?a system of classification of malocclusion, and the etiology of malocclusions in relation to a variety of factors.
