This is an experience based learning trip to Ireland during the college's spring break. Students will be required to participate in four pre trip seminars relating to the objectives and coverage to take place during the trip. Students will be expected to participate in the program outlined for them. During this week, students will be allowed individual flexibility in their approach to the course requirements.

This beginner's course in French equally emphasizes the four skills of language learning: listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. Interactive materials and a laboratory component create a multifaceted and challenging learning environment. This course is appropriate for students with two or fewer years of high school French.

This is a three unit course. Each unit is five weeks. Unit I: Academic Skills for College Success introduces students to the college environment and provides opportunities to strengthen skills necessary for success at the college level. Unit II: Learning Theories and Self Assessment explores the learning process, learning styles, and student development theory. Unit III: Career Decision Making helps students understand and successfully manage, through readings, writing, and activities, some of their life and career transitions.

This course is a basic study of fire expecting and code enforcement principles. Students will learn the basics of inspections, the identification of common hazards, the basics of special inspections, and the use of NFPA 101 Life Safety Codes and NFPA 1 National Fire Prevention Code.

This course is designed to acquaint students with the various extinguishing agents and with engineering them into fire protection systems, including portable extinguishers, sprinkler systems, detection systems and fire alarm systems.

A study of building methods and design, as related to fire protection. Included in the course of study are elementary blueprint reading, building materials, types of construction, fire protection features, building codes, fire effects of buildings and evaluation of fire damage.

This course is designed to be the initial course of the Fire Science Technology program. It is recommended for fire personnel in small departments and short service personnel. The course is a survey of the fire protection field, with emphasis on developing an awareness of history, organization, trade groups, federal efforts, state efforts and local efforts.

This course of study includes water supply, principles of water dynamics, pumps and fire ground hydraulics. Because of the nature of this subject, students should be well versed in mathematics, particularly algebra, before enrolling in this course. Co requisite(s): MAT 108.

This course is designed to develop a basic investigative ability in fire officers. The course focuses on the acquisition of field information and data collection.
