This course provides an introduction to the core disciplines of the business program. You will explore the internal business functions of marketing, management, human resource management, accounting, finance, and operations management. It is the first course in the business administration program.

Prerequisites: BA 1200, ENG 1245. The student is introduced to the concepts of management theory and practice in this course. A how-to approach for the student of such management functions as planning, organizing, directing, and controlling is presented.

Prerequisite: BA 2010 & MA 1025. Design of production systems. Topics include product and service design, location planning, capacity planning, design of facilities and work systems and lean manufacturing concepts.

Establishing a financial plan, using credit and long-term loans, lease vs. buy decisions for autos and homes, insurance, and investment fundamentals.

Prerequisite: BA 2500. The history and current status of personal selling, the various types of salesmanship and their requirements, sales personality development, product analysis, psychology of selling, and sales strategy. Emphasis will be placed on practical demonstration.

Prerequisite: BA 2010. The analysis, design, and implementation of safety programs in work settings. Emphasis is placed on developing an understanding of the economic, legal and social factors of related to providing a safe and healthful working environment for various occupations.

Prerequisite: BA 2010 & BA 2500. This course will provide information about the transactions of goods and services using the World Wide Web. Topics will include product marketing, electronic orders and payments, order fulfillment, and customer service. Legal, privacy, and security issues and e-commerce trends will also be examined.
