REL 101: Intro to the Hebrew Bible

Students will examine the Hebrew Scripture as reflections made by the Israelite community about its relationship with God, its character as a chosen people, and its responsibilities in a pluralistic society. The class will use historical and literary methods to interpret the significance of the written texts. The course is neither confessional nor prescriptive. It describes and examines the faith of Israel. Offered every Fall semester.
