This last class in the series of evaluation classes introduces athletic training students to the procedures, techniques, and identifying anatomical considerations used in the evaluation of trunk and head athletic injuries. The evaluation process will be enhanced by clinical application in lab experiences. Prerequisites: admission to the ATEP; ATR 245, 344, and 345. Spring.

This course will introduce athletic training students to multiple bracing and padding techniques common to the athletic training profession. Upon completion, students will be able to effectively fabricate, fit, and determine which protective equipment would best prevent and treat various athletic injuries. Prerequisites: admission to the ATEP; ATR 245 and 344. Fall.

This course is designed to introduce athletic training students to the concepts of research within the athletic training profession, pharmacological aspects common to athletic training, and psychosocial intervention issues that many athletic trainers face. Upon completion of this course students will have completed the first three chapters of a research project and be able to apply pharmacological and psychosocial principles when working with patients. Prerequisites: admission to the ATEP; ATR 245, 344, 345, and 347. Spring

Clinical education in the recognition and evaluation of lower extremity injuries will be emphasized. Affiliated clinical experiences with supervised integration of required clinical education proficiencies are encompassed in this course. Prerequisites: admission to the ATEP; ATR 182, 281, and 282. Clinical education in selecting parameters for therapeutic modalities and the recognition and evaluation of upper extremity injuries will be emphasized. Affiliated clinical experiences with supervised integration of required clinical education proficiencies are encompassed in this course. Prerequisites: admission to the ATEP; ATR 182, 281, 282, and 381. Spring.

4.00 Credits
A clinical experience in an athletic training setting that is additional to the required professional development experience and is equivalent to four weeks of full-time employment. Prerequisites: admission to the ATEP and departmental consent. ATR 480 will fulfill four semester hours of the winter term requirement. Senior year.

Clinical education emphasizing the integration of evaluation skills of the spine, therapeutic exercise, pharmacology, and integration of material from previous classes will be emphasized. Affiliated clinical experiences with supervised integration of clinical education proficiencies are encompassed in this course. Prerequisites: admission to the ATEP; ATR 182, 281, 282, 381, and 382. Fall.

This athletic training practicum provides the athletic training student with the opportunity for practical experience in an athletic training setting. Students may take ATR 482 for 1 or 2 credit hours. Prerequisites: admission to the ATEP and departmental consent. Graded: Pass/Fail. Fall and spring.

4.00 - 12.00 Credits
Athletic Training majors will complete a semester-long professional development experience during fall, winter or spring semesters. This experience will meet the professional development component required for all seniors to graduate. Professional development experiences are completed at off-campus locations in Franklin, Greenwood, Shelbyville, Indianapolis or at a pre-approved site of their choice. Prerequisites: admission to the ATEP; ATR 281, 282, 381, 382, Senior year.

1.00 - 2.00 Credits
Individualized, independent research project in a student's field of interest in athletic training not thoroughly covered in regular courses. Prerequisites: admission to the ATEP, at least 18 semester hours of athletic training classes, and the consent of the instructor. Fall and Spring.
