SPED 321: Special Education Clinical Experience

This course provides for student involvement in direct observation and participation in placements for children with mild and moderate disabilities. A minimum of 20 hours in this clinical experience placement is required, plus seminar meetings. ( Prerequisite: SPED 220)

This course discusses the qualities of a good reader, why some students have difficulty achieving this, and the purposes of reading assessment. The course focuses on formal and informal types of assessment and discusses methods of remediation. Students will practice assessing reading and constructing remedial lessons for K-12 students. Supplementary reading programs will also be covered. ( Prerequisites: EDU 330 and 440) Take concurrent with SPED 335.
