    Description: For students who have completed all course requirements for their advanced degree programs. May be repeated: an unlimited number of times, consult your department for details and possible restrictions. Usually offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.

    Description: For students who have receptive skills in Spanish, but who encounter difficulty in speaking. It focuses on developing fluent conversation and listening skills in a positive and culturally rich environment. It also covers basic grammar structures problematic to students. Grading: Regular grades are awarded for this course: A B C D E. Available to qualified students for Pass/Fail Option. Prerequisite(s): Placement by examination. Credit allowed for SPAN 103 or SPAN 102, but not for both. Heritage speakers should take SPAN 103 instead of SPAN 102. Meets second semester language proficiency requirement. Usually offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.

    Description: Qualified students working on an individual basis with professors who have agreed to supervise such work. Grading: Alternative grades are awarded for this course: S P F.   • 3.00 - 4.00 Credits

    Description: Designed for students who learned Spanish in a home or community environment. Focuses mainly on written and oral development but reading and listening skills are also practiced in a dynamic cultural context. Grammar and spelling issues problematic to students are also covered. This course fulfills the University's foreign language requirement. Grading: Regular grades are awarded for this course: A B C D E. Available to qualified students for Pass/Fail Option. Prerequisite(s): SPAN 103 or placement by examination. Credit allowed for SPAN 203 or SPAN 202, but not for both. Heritage speakers should take SPAN 203 instead of SPAN 201 or SPAN 202. Meets fourth semester language proficiency requirement. Usually offered: Fall, Spring.

    Description: Offered in Guadalajara only. SPAN 204A is the equivalent of SPAN 101 and SPAN 102. SPAN 204B is the equivalent of SPAN 102 and SPAN 201. SPAN 204C is the equivalent of SPAN 201 and SPAN 202. Recommended for highly motivated students and/or those with experience in another Romance language. Grading: Regular grades are awarded for this course: A B C D E. Usually offered: Summer.
