This course studies the plays and films of the Holocaust examining the unique relationship between historical fact and the artist's response to the impact of those facts on the human character. The course treats the films and dramatic literature of the Holocaust as a unique genre of “survivalist” literature of atrocity, which is as much a response to one of history’s darkest periods as it is an emergence of a new artistic form.
