This course introduces growth and development relating to respiratory care from the fetus to the adolescent. Course content relates physiologic functions to respiratory care, including assessment, evaluation, and treatment. Topics include fetal growth and development, neonatal growth and development, fetal assessment and evaluation, neonatal assessment and evaluation, neonatal respiratory care, neonatal and pediatric pathology, and pediatric respiratory care. Prerequisites: RTT 193, RTT 211, RTT 213

5.00 Credits
This course reviews respiratory care as it pertains to the national credential examinations administered by the NBRC. Instructors use a series of simulation examinations to prepare students for these exams. Instructors emphasize decisionmaking and problemsolving as related to clinical respiratory care. Topics include medical ethics, basic computer literacy, CRT exam preparation, and RRT exam preparation. Students must pass a comprehensive final examination to secure a passing grade in this course. Prerequisites: RTT 2-1-2, RTT 213

Students develop their proficiency in clinical skills introduced in Clinical Practice I and Clinical Practice II. In addition, course content introduces intermittent positive pressure breathing, check physiotherapy, and airway care using nasal, endotrachael, and tracheal tubes. Instructors also cover critical care practice, including care of critically ill ventilator patients. Instructors require case presentations to integrate clinical and classroom theory. Prerequisite: RTT 210

This course provides experience in which students continue to develop proficiency in skills introduced in Clinical Practice I, Clinical Practice II, and Clinical Practice III. In addition, instructors introduce students to critical respiratory care. Students complete case presentations to integrate clinical and classroom theory. Topics include basic respiratory skills, patient assessment, and respiratory care of the critical patient. Prerequisite/Corequisite: RTT 218

In this course, students develop skills required in the intensive care of respiratory patients. They complete case presentations to integrate clinical and classroom theory. Topics include basic respiratory care of critical care patients, tracheostomy care, ventilatory monitoring, arterial blood collection, blood gas analysis, and EKG. Prerequisites/Corequisites: RTT 2-1-2, RTT 213, RTT 218

This course provides students with an opportunity for indepth application and reinforcement of adult intensive care, pediatric and neonatal intensive care, advanced diagnostics, and rehabilitation and home care. Topics include initiation of mechanical ventilation, patient stabilization and monitoring, measurement and evaluation of hemodynamic variables, bronchial hygiene, evaluation for weaning, extubation, arterial line samples, noninvasive monitoring, specialty rotations through neonatal and pediatrics, advanced diagnostics, and rehabilitation and home care. Prerequisites: RTT 220

Introduces the fundamental concepts and operations necessary to use microcomputers. Emphasis is placed on basic functions and familiarity with computer use. Topics include computer terminology, introduction to keyboarding, introduction to the Windows environment, introduction to networking, introduction to word processing, introduction to spreadsheets, and introduction to databases. Prerequisite: Provisional admission
