Students learn how to communicate effectively with customers, how to manage relationships in facetoface situations, and how to manage difficult customers. Increases the awareness of the cause of food poisoning and spoilage as they relate to daytoday operations of food production. Introduces the issues involved in producing safe food and reinforces the need to apply safe hygienic practices and principle times to reduce risks. Satisfies the requirements of Hospitality Industry National Competency Standard. Prerequisite: HRT 136

Focuses on presenting a positive image to coworkers as well as customers. Personal wellness helps to maintain optional mental and physical health. Through discussion and roleplay, students prepare and practice skills required to interview for a job. Prerequisite: HRT 140

Explores the philosophic and artistic heritage of humanity expressed through a historical perspective on visual arts, music, and literature. The humanities are presented as a source of subjective insights for the understanding of people and society. Topics include historical and cultural developments and contributions of the humanities. Prerequisite: ENG 191 with a grade of "C" or higher.

Continues the study and application of motorcontrol circuits with emphasis on sequencing circuits, complex circuits, and motorcontrol centers. Topics include sequencing circuits, reducedvoltage starting, motorcontrol centers, and troubleshooting. Prerequisite/Corequisite: IDS 115

Provides a foundation in industrial computers and computer systems with a focus in linking computers to the plant floor process. Topics include hardware, software, boot sequence, configuration, troubleshooting, and communication platforms. Prerequisites: IDS 142, SCT 100

Introduces practical problem solving techniques as practiced in an industrial setting. Topics include: analytical problem solving, troubleshooting techniques, reading blueprints and technical diagrams, schematics and symbols, specifications and tolerances. The course emphasizes how the machine or mechanical system works, reading engineering specifications and applying a systematic approach to solving the problem. Prerequisites: Program ready

Teaches the fundamental concepts of industrial wiring with an emphasis on installation procedures. Topics include grounding, raceways, three phase systems, transformers (threephase and singlephase), wire sizing, over current protection, NEC requirements, industrial lighting systems, and switches, receptacles, and cord connectors. Prerequisites/Corequisites: IDS 1-2-1, IFC 102

Introduces the fundamental theories and applications of singlephase and threephase motors. Topics include motor theory and operating principles, motor terminology, motor identification, NEMA standards, AC motors, DC motors, scheduled preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting and failure analysis.
