Develops a basic understanding of greenhouse design, construction, and environmental factors affecting plant growth. Topics include greenhouse construction, greenhouse heating and cooling, greenhouse soil functions and components, irrigation types and effects, fertilizer types and applications, and fall crops for the local area. Develops skills necessary to design and construct landscape features such as retaining walls, walkways, and irrigations systems. Topics include tool use and safety, retaining walls, drainage, irrigation/water use, lowvoltage lighting, and walkways. Prerequisite: Provisional admission

Develops skills necessary to propagate and produce both container and field grown nursery stock. Topics include industry overview, facility design, propagation techniques and environment, field grown and container production, and managerial functions for nursery production. Introduces design principles, drawing skills, and plant selection techniques required to produce landscape plans for residential/commercial clients. Topics include landscape design principles, sketching and drawing skills, site analysis, plant and material selection, and landscape design process. Prerequisites: EHO 101, EHO 168
