Provides students with occupationbased instruction that applies learned skills to actual work experience. Emphasizes student opportunities to practice finish work as learned in class and lab as part of the cabinetmaking fundamentals and specific occupational courses. Topics include application of cabinetmaking skills, appropriate employability skills, problem solving, and adaptability to job equipment and technology, progressive productivity, and acceptable job performance. Prerequisites: All nonelective courses required for completion of the Cabinetmaking program

Provides instruction in the use of computer software packages dealing with cabinet and millwork part design. Topics include programming methods for creating parts, use of geometric drawings, tool selection, saving files, and parts production. Prerequisites/Corequisites: SCT 100, MAT 101, CAB 108

Provides instruction in use of CAD files with CNC machines, machine operation, and maintenance. Topics include overview of software, machine operation safety, CNC machine operation, material preparation, tooling, data manipulation, production analysis, and maintenance of equipment. This course will introduce the students to principles and practices required in the operation of a custom cabinet and architectural millwork shop. Topics include health and safety regulations, workflow, shop organization, job estimation, equipment maintenance, and shop safety. Prerequisite/Corequisite: CAB 108

Provides instruction in the layout and assembly of furniture. Topics include tool safety, furniture drawings interpretation, furniture components, assembly, and special techniques. Prerequisites/Corequisites: CAB 112, CAB 116, and CAB 118

Provides instruction in the production and installation of various types and styles of cornice and soffit work used in residential carpentry. Topics include identification of types and styles, vent systems, materials estimation, installation procedures, and ladder and scaffolding safety.
