Community relations and common courtesy will be discussed. Intervention techniques for suicide, domestic ciolence, and other crises are reviewed. Stress recognition and reduction are included.

Also discussed are topics on supervision techniques, inmate societies, homosexuality, and human adjustment to improvement.

CORRECTIONAL OPERATIONS An overview of daily operations within a correctional are discussed discussed to include; intake procedures, fingerprinting, disciplinary procedures, inmate movement, release procedures, and key control.

Prerequisite: Correctional Officer Basic Recruit Program This course covers the basic knowledge and skills for certified corrections officers to cross over to become law enforcement officers Topics include law, interpersonal communications, radio communications, note taking, report writing, interviewing, ethics, professionalism, court structure, working with communities, diverse and special populations, and information about the criminal justice system in Florida and the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.

Prerequisite: Correctional Officer Basic Recruit Program The student studies the court system in Florida, issues related to responding to emergency situations, and general information involving exposure to bombs, explosives, and weapons of mass destruction. The skill necessary to perform different law enforcement functions while assigned to a special detail will be explored.

CORRECTIONAL CROSSOVER TO LAW ENFORCEMENT INTRODUCTION AND LEGAL The student will learn criminal justice values and ethics, and a variety of legal issues that are applicable to law enforcement: probable cause, search and seizure, lawful arrests, interrogation of suspects, elements of arrests, rules of evidence, use of force, criminal liability, and civil liability. The legal considerations when dealign with juveniles is also discussed in this course.

CORRECTIONAL CROSSOVER TO LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMUNICATION The student will learn the use of radio equipment and how to gather information at crime scenes, conduct basic interviews, take statements, and organize and document information in reports. Students will write reports and complete an arrest/ probable cause affidavit.
