MICROSOFT EXCHANGE 2003 SERVER IMPLEMENTATION AND ADMINISTRATION Prerequisite: CET 2794. This course teaches the student how to install, configure and administer Microsoft Exchange 2003. This course covers the installation of Exchange server and its integration with Mircosoft Windows 2003 server. Upon completion of this course the student will understand the Exchange Server Architecture, how to plan an installation, the type of installations available, the coexistence with previous Microsoft Exchange Server versions, running Exchange in a clustered environment, how to deploy Outlook 2003, how the available MAPI-based clients that can be used, how MAPI-base clients in a Novell Netware environment function, how to configure internet-based client access, what management tools are available for Exchange 2003, how to create and manage recipients, how to manage server configuration, SMTP Transport configuration and Message Routing Administration. MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP Prerequisite: CET 2252C & CET 1286C or department approval This course teaches the student how to implement Windows XP Professional, including automated and remote installations. The student will also learn how to configure the desktop environment - from user accounts to multiple-language support. The course will also cover installing and supporting hardware devices and drivers The details of administering resources such as shared folders,file systems, and network printers will be covered. The student will practice configuring and troubleshooting network protocols and services including TCP/IP, Internet Information Services and remote access services. Additional items such as optimizing memory, processor and application performance will be covered in detail. The student will be introduced to security management using Group Policies, En- crypting File Systems (EFS) and NTFS permissions that will provide the basis for future courses. SQL SERVER 2000 ADMINISTRATION Prerequisite: CET 2792 or department approval This course teaches the student how to install, configure, and administer Microsoft SQL Server 2000.The installation methods will cover clean installation, upgrades and named instances. The students will also learn how to create databases, attach and detach data bases, and expand and shrink databases. SQL and Windows 2000 security methods will be covered in detail. The student will learn the proper methods of managing, monitoring, and trouble- shooting Microsoft SQL Server 2000. The student will learn how to create and manage jobs and perform data transforms. CYBER SECURITY Prerequisite: CET 2660C and CET 2722 Corequisite: None The overarching purpose of this course is to provide information about the basic workings of firewalls, with a predominant slant toward open-source, Linux-based firewalls such as IPTABLES, and Firewall Snort. Howver, the course will also provide information and practical knowledge on commercial firewalls. To that effect, smaller appliance firewalls such as Linksys Firewall will be covered, along with personal firewalls such as Windows Firewall. Additionally, commercial enterprise firewalls such as Cisco firewalls will be covered. Software firewalls, integrated firewalls, and appliance firewalls will all be explored and explained. While it is true that vendors' firewall products vary greatly, the fundamental underlying principles do not vary because of the nature of the technology, and therefore wil constitute the focal point of the course. (Lab Fee: $46.00)
