    TRANSITION INTO PROFESSIONAL NURSING Prerequisites: Acceptance to Advanced Standing Track in Nursing AS Degree Program. This course is designed for LPN's, Paramedics, and Registered Cardiovascular Specialists, and Registered Respiratory Therapists as the introductory nursing course in the Advanced Standing Track. The course builds on the foundation of knowledge that was acquired during previous health care education. Emphasis is placed on the role of the registered nurse and individual responsibility for role change. Critical thinking is utilized in learning the process of clinical decision making for diverse populations with alternations in physiological and/or psychosocial integrity. Concepts of pharmacology, dosage calculation, and safe administration of medications will be presented. Basic skills most often used in nursing practice will be reviewed and evaluated. Learning activities to ensure competency in oral communication and basic use of computers are included. (Special Fee: $122.00)
