Topics included graphing linear functions, quadratic functions, absolute value functions, radical functions and rational functions, with a focus on simplifying, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing these expressions as well as methods to solve equations involving these types of functions. Other topics include inequalities, functional equations, factoring polynomials, applied problems, systems of equations, solving quadratic equation using the quadratic formula and completing the square. This course covers the history of medicine, the medical assisting profession, the duties of a medical assistant, the characteristics of a medical assistant and members of the health care team, insurance, credits, collection methods and correct coding procedures for billing purposes will be covered. Students will also be prepared to seek employment in the field and be given guidelines for resumé writing, cover letters and follow-up letters for interview purposes.
