The course begins with the fundamentals of music theory and moves into their more complex applications. Music of the common practice period is considered. The Jazz Ensemble provides an opportunity for students to participate in a musical ensemble in the jazz big band format. Jazz music is a unique American art form. The big band jazz format is an exciting way for students to experience the power, grace and beauty of this art form and music in general. The class will consist of regular weekly rehearsals and one or more concert performance (s). 1 semester hour. Repeatable for credit.
