This class is a methods class designed to help students learn to teach math, science and social studies to young children in the preschool and primary grades. The course explores major concepts and approaches in all three areas as well as the process of using thematic learning to implement the integration of the three areas. The class will also explore learning styles, special needs and multicultural backgrounds to facilitate the teacher's skill in providing for individual student needs as well as classroom management.

Through its integrated design, students will have the opportunity to analyze individual firms and markets as well as aggregate economic indicators. Topics to be covered include: inflation, unemployment and economic growth, with a focus on the government's role in regulating markets. Upon completion of the corse, students will have gained a basic understanding of how people make decisions, how people interact, and how the economy as a whole works so that they may be able to conceptualize how the economy works, make better business decisions and establish a framework for viewing and interpreting the economic world around them.
