This class will examine changes in cognition that occur during aging. Topics covered will include short and long-term memory, selective attention, and executive functions. We will examine how and why these changes occur both in the normal elferly population, and in people with disorders such as Alzheimer's disease. These cognitive effects will be linked to changes that occur in the brain, although no background in neuroscience is required.
