Provides an introduction to various methodological issues in science, using psychobiological inquiry as a model. Major topics include: theory formulation and hypothesis testing; critical thinking in the evaluation of research; mathematical and logical reasoning, including probability; organization of scientific knowledge and the process of scientific progress; and the interrelationships amongst different scientific fields. These issues will be addressed through content focused on specific topics, such as the psychophysiology of learning disabilities and the impact of psychotropic drugs on biological systems.
