This course focuses on the CATIA CAD/CAM system highlighting system structure and 3-D geometry creation and manipulation. Based on wire frame profiles created on sketch planes, 3-D parametric solid models are produced. Also covered is the use of parts for assembly modeling, creation of working drawings, and bills of material for the engineering design industry. Transfer Credit: CSU

This course deals with advanced applications of the latest release of CATIA, such as generative sheet metal design, assembly analysis, generative stress analysis, design and creation of complex parts and assemblies, and surface modeling and lofting for computer-aided engineering (CAE) functions. With the guidance of the faculty member, students prepare and carry out a written learning agreement describing the purposes and outcomes of the project. Students should expect to meet with the supervising faculty member one to two hours each week for conferences. Credit is based upon the number of hours in the semester expected to complete the project (1 unit for 54 hours, 2 units for 108 hours). This course may be taken a maximum of 2 times. This introductory course describes the importance of energy in natural systems, energy resources, and utilization of energy by Man in modern economies.
