Class hours: 1.5 Laboratory This course assists students in improving and expanding writing and thinking skills needed for successful communication in their careers/and or professions. The course is taught by diagnostic-prescriptive methods, technology mediated instruction, and individualized instruction. This course may be taken a maximum of 4 times.

Class hours: 3.0 Lecture Students will study the fundamentals of English grammar, with an emphasis on parts of speech, phrases and clauses, sentence structure, and correct usage. Class hours may be used to qualify a student for the certified shorthand reporters' examination.

Class hours: 3.0 Lecture Prerequisite: ENGL 50A or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This course further develops the student's ability to analyze the structure of English sentences, to recognize and correct errors in usage, punctuation and grammar, and to generate sentences of varied complexity. Class hours may be used to qualify a student for the certified shorthand reporters' examination.

Class hours: 3.0 Lecture/1.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: Satisfactory completion of the English Placement Process or ENGL 20 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This course develops the students' ability to write clearly, effectively, and correctly by guiding students through the writing process. Students write a series of compositions that integrate critical thinking, evaluative writing, and library research.

Class hours: 3.0 Lecture Prerequisite: Satisfactory completion of the English Placement Process or ENGL 52 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This course gives comprehensive instruction in the preparation of written materials, with particular emphasis on punctuation, capitalization, abbreviations, numbers, spelling, and manuscript formatting. Class hours may be used to qualify a student for the certified shorthand reporters' examination.

Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/4.0 Laboratory Recommendation: MATH 140 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. The principles of the graphic language of the engineer expressed through sketching and instrument drawings covering orthographic projection, primary and secondary auxiliary views, dimensioning, and the working drawing. The descriptive geometry methods applied to points, lines, planes, intersections, warped surfaces, developments, and graphical mathematics. Required of all engineering students. This course covers the fundamental principles of descriptive geometry. This course includes the study of the fundamental principles essential to understanding electric circuits. These include Kirchhoff's Laws, Ohm's Law, network theorems, Mesh and Nodal analysis, Thevenin and Norton equivalent, inductors and capacitors, resister capacitor and resister coil circuits, and sinusoidal steady-state analysis and calculations. Class hours: 1.5 Lecture/1.5 Laboratory This course is a study of working drawings and blueprints used in engineering and manufacturing. Emphasis is placed on the ability to visualize and interpret typical drawings. Research is required into standards, specifications, procedures, bulletins, and techniques, which are a parallel part of the shop drawing system. It is intended to prepare the student for accurate interpretation of drawings in order to carry out the applications required or use them as appropriate engineering and manufacturing references.
