CRCC 140C: Computerized Shorthand Theory For Scopists

Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/8.0 Laboratory Recommendation: BCOM 46 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher and a minimum typing speed of 35 wpm or enrollment in a typing class. This first-semester course covers the basic theory of computer-compatible shorthand for students who are interested in becoming scopists for court reporters. There is no hands-on use of the stenotype machine. Therefore, a machine is not required. Students will learn that theory and learn to read and transcribe the notes of the court reporter.
