    Class hours: 3.3 Lecture/9.8 Laboratory Prerequisite: COS 52B or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This is an advanced course in theory as it pertains to cosmetology. Students continue to develop manipulative skills in thermal hairstyling, styling, hair sculpturing, conditioning, reconstruction, chemical waving, chemical straightening, make-up, skin care, European facials, light therapy, skin diseases, skin disorders, acrylic nails and artificial nail tips nail wraps. Emphasis is placed on health and safety, professionalism, client relationships and State Board examination preparation.

    Class hours: 3.3 Lecture/9.8 Laboratory Prerequisite: COS 52C or COS 62B or 70C or COS 73B with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This is an advanced course designed to permit the student to complete 1600 hours necessary to take the State Board of Cosmetology examination. It provides an opportunity for the student to continue developing manipulative skills in hairstyling, hair coloring, permanent waving, chemical straightening, scalp treatments, facials, waxing, manicuring, pedicuring, and thermal styling. This course may be taken a maximum of 3 times as necessary to complete 1600 hours.

    Class hours: 5.0 Lecture/15.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: Limitation on enrollment: Completion of 10th grade or equivalent. This is an introductory course designed to develop basic skills and theoretical knowledge necessary to enter the licensed esthetician vocation. Students develop knowledge in theories of cosmetic chemistry, products, and their use and effect on skin. Students' knowledge and ability are achieved in a minimum of 300 hours, through lecture, demonstrations and laboratory in a salon atmosphere.

    Class hours: 5.0 Lecture/15.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: COS 54 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This class is an advanced portion of the esthetic program. It develops skills in electrical modalities, depilatory waxing, paraffin waxing, advanced massage techniques, and corrective make-up. Students develop skills in selecting appropriate facial treatments. The students' ability and knowledge are to be achieved in a minimum of 300 hours through lecture and demonstration by working in a salon atmosphere.

    Class hours: 5.0 Lecture/15.0 Laboratory Recommendation: Satisfactory completion of the English Placement Process or ENGL 20 with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher and satisfactory completion of the Reading Placement Process or READ 43 or equivalent with a Pass or "C" or higher. This is an introductory course in the technical and related theory and manipulative skills pertaining to the field of cosmetology. It is designed to acquaint the student with, and to develop their ability to perform the basic skills in hairstyling, hairsculpturing, haircoloring, permanent waving, and manicuring. Emphasis will be placed on the Cosmetology Act, State Board Rules and Regulations, safety, sanitation, anatomy, and chemistry as they relate to the cosmetology profession.

    Class hours: 5.0 Lecture/15.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: COS 60A or COS 71A with a grade of Credit or "C" or higher. This is an introductory course in the technical and related theory and manipulative skills pertaining to the field of cosmetology. It provides an opportunity for the student to perform basic skills in chemical relaxer, soft perms, press and curl, facials and people skills. It provides an opportunity for the student to continue developing manipulative skill in hairstyling, hairsculpturing, haircoloring, permanent waving, manicuring, and pedicuring. Emphasis will be placed on the safety and sanitation as it relates to the cosmetology profession, professionalism and client relationships.

    Class hours: 5.0 Lecture/15.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: COS 50C or 60B or 70A or 71B with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This is an intermediate course in theory as it pertains to cosmetology. It provides an opportunity for the student to continue developing manipulative skills in thermal hairstyling, wet hairstyling, chemical waving, hairsculpturing, salesmanship, long hairstyling, chemical relaxing, make-up, conditioning, manicuring, and to gain knowledge of tricology, dermatology, and chemistry, as they relate to cosmetology. People skills, press and curl, hair design, and men's hairstyling will also be studied. Emphasis is placed on professionalism and client relationships.

    Class hours: 5.0 Lecture/15.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: COS 61A or COS 72A with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This is an intermediate course in theory as it pertains to cosmetology. It provides an opportunity for the student to continue developing people skills, manipulative skills in haircolor, manicuring, scalp treatments, chemical waving, hairsculpturing, and chemistry, hairdesign, permanent wave, press and curl, and chemical relaxing. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, client relationships, and people skills.

Emphasis is placed on professionalism, client relationships and State Board examination preparation.
