    Class hours: 1.7 Laboratory Prerequisite: COS 50C, COS 54, COS 60B, COS 70A, or COS 71A with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. Corequisite: Concurrent enrollment in any Cosmetology course This lab course is designed to permit the student to complete 1600 hours necessary to take the State Board of Cosmetology examination. It provides an opportunity for the student to continue developing manipulative skills in hair styling, haircoloring, permanent waving, chemical straightening, scalp treatments, facials, waxing, manicuring, pedicures and thermal styling.

    Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/1.0 Laboratory Recommendation: READ 42 or ENGL 15 with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher, or the equivalent. This is an introductory course providing an overview of cosmetology careers as a cosmetologist, esthetician, or manicurist. The emphasis will be understanding the requirements to achieve a cosmetology license. Students will be introduced to technical vocabulary, demonstration of hair design, make-up, chemicals, manicuring, and hands-on applications. An overview of the program and professions will be included. These course hours are not counted toward State Board Certification.

    Class hours: 3.3 Lecture/9.8 Laboratory Recommendation: Satisfactory completion of the English Placement Process or ENGL 20 with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher and satisfactory completion of the Reading Placement Process or READ 43 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This is an introductory course in the technical and related theory and manipulative skills pertaining to the field of cosmetology. It is designed to acquaint students with and to develop their ability to perform the basic skills in hairstyling, hairsculpting, permanent waving, and hair color. Emphasis will be placed on the Bureau of Barbering and Cosmetology Rules and Regulations, and the Cosmetology Act, as well as health, safety, sanitation, anatomy, and chemistry as they relate to the cosmetology profession.

    Class hours: 3.3 Lecture/9.8 Laboratory Prerequisite: COS 50A or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This is an introductory course in the technical and related theory and manipulative skills pertaining to the field of cosmetology. It is designed to acquaint the students with and to develop their ability to perform the basic skills in haircoloring, permanent waving, skin care, manicuring and pedicuring. Emphasis will be placed on the Cosmetology Act, State Board Rules and Regulations, as well as health, safety, sanitation, anatomy, and chemistry as they relate to the cosmetology profession.

This is an introductory course in the technical and related theory and manipulative skills pertaining to the field of cosmetology. It is designed to acquaint the students with and to develop their ability to perform the basic skills in hair design, hairsculpting, permanent waving, and people skills. Emphasis will be placed on the Cosmetology Act, State Board Rules and Regulations, as well as safety, nail tips and wraps, sanitation, and chemistry as they relate to cosmetology profession.

    Class hours: 3.3 Lecture/9.8 Laboratory Prerequisite: COS 50C, or COS 60B, COS 70A, or COS 71B with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This is an intermediate course in theory as it pertains to cosmetology. Students continue to develop manipulative skills in makeup, electric facials, facial waxing, arching, haircoloring, hair lighteners, color weaves, chemical restructuring, soft perm and conditioning to gain knowledge of tricology, anatomy, skin care, nail care, chemistry, health and safety as they relate to cosmetology. Emphasis is placed on professionalism and client relationships.

    Class hours: 3.3 Lecture/9.8 Laboratory Prerequisite: COS 51A or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This is an intermediate course in theory as it pertains to cosmetology. Students continue to develop manipulative skills in air forming, wet hairstyling, chemical waving, hairsculpturing, salesmanship, long hairstyling, chemical relaxing, conditioning, and to gain knowledge of tricology and chemistry, as they relate to cosmetology. Emphasis is placed on professionalism and client relationships.

    Class hours: 3.3 Lecture/9.8 Laboratory Prerequisite: COS 51B or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This is an intermediate course in theory as it pertains to cosmetology. Students continue to develop manipulative skills in facial waxing, acrylic nails, acrylic overlays, hair augmentation and to gain knowledge of tricology, dermatology, electricity, hair color, chemistry, health and safety, as they relate to cosmetology. Emphasis is placed on professionalism and client relationships.

    Class hours: 3.3 Lecture/9.8 Laboratory Prerequisite: COS 51C or COS 61B, or COS 70B or COS 72B with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This is an advanced course in theory as it pertains to cosmetology. Students continue to develop manipulative skills in thermal hairstyling, competition styling, hair sculpturing, conditioning, reconstruction, chemical waving, chemical straightening, skin care, European facials, and manicuring. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, client relationships, people skills, salon management, and State Board examination preparation.

    Class hours: 3.3 Lecture/9.8 Laboratory Prerequisite: COS 52A or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This is an advanced course in theory as it pertains to cosmetology. Students continue to develop manipulative skills in thermal hairstyling, competition styling, hair sculpturing, conditioning, reconstruction, chemical waving and chemical straightening and hair coloring. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, client relationships and State Board examination preparation.
