This course covers the purpose and scope of eXtensible Markup Language (XML). The course will cover XML-related technologies and standards to develop dynamic, data-driven Web applications. Topics include XML structure and syntax, eXtensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML), Document Type Definition (DTD) and schemas validation, Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), XML as linking and searching mechanism, eXtensible Style Sheet (XSL) for formatting-object documents, Document Object Model (DOM), and Simple API for XML (SAX) for parsing and transforming XML. This course covers the concepts of Structured Query Language (SQL) in the SQL *Plus environment, and Oracle's Procedural Language/Structured Query Language (PL/SQL) programming languages for working with relational databases. The students will learn the creation of database objects and the storage, retrieval, and manipulation of data using the Oracle database management system. Transfer Credit: CSU
