Operations Navigator will be used to configure, monitor, and manage the iSeries 400 (AS/400). Topics include basic operations, printing, job management, device configuration, security, database management, file systems, backup, and user/groups. This course introduces the student to the IBM AS/400 Computer System OS/400 database and file structure. This course will use IBM AS/400's Application Development Tools. The course includes the following topics: Source Editor Utility (SEU), Data File Utility (DFU), Program Development Manager (PDM), Screen Design Aid (SDA), Data Description Specifications, Data file structure and design, physical source file, Library, object, member structure, logicalfiles, display files, menus and simple control language program.     Class hours: 3.0 Lecture/2.0 Laboratory This course is a foundation class for Information Technology. The fundamentals of building worksheets include: creating worksheets, formatting, functions, formulas, macros, data tables, analysis tools, templates, Wizards, and the creation of charts. Techniques to deal with multiple worksheets and large worksheets are covered. The database functions of EXCEL will include sorting, filtering, queries, macros, and record retrieval. This course covers the topics required in industry certifications. Hands-on exercises are used to reinforce the function of EXCEL. This course is not open to students who have taken both CIS 54A and CIS 54B. Transfer Credit: CSU

    Class hours: 3.0 Lecture/2.0 Laboratory Recommendation: CIS 151 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher or appropriate work experience. This course teaches students to create professional Excel applications using the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming language. Students will learn to automate repetitive tasks, protect spreadsheets from user errors, and create user interfaces. Topics covered will include how to write program procedures using the sequence, selection, and repetition programming structures, as well as how to create and implement dialog boxes, lists, and option/check box controls in Excel. This course may be taken a maximum of 3 times. Transfer Credit: CSU

It covers relational database concepts and design, techniques for building a database using queries, forms, reports, and expressions. Topic also include multiple-table queries and reports and the user interface to a database. This course covers the topics in the Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) certifications. Topics include Core Level MOUS Skills for Microsoft Access functions such as creating a database table; creating relationships between database tables, creating forms, reports, mailing labels, and charts; using Database Wizards and OfficeLinks. This course prepares the student for Microsoft Office User (MOUS) Access Core Certification. Transfer Credit: CSU

    Class hours: 1.5 Lecture/0.9 Laboratory Prerequisite: CIS 155A or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher or appropriate work experience. This course emphasizes advanced database functions on the IBM compatible personal computers using Microsoft Access for Windows software. Topics include Expert Level MOUS Skills for Microsoft Access functions such as building and modifying advanced tables, building and modifying forms, refining queries, using advanced report features, defining relationships, and using Access tools. This course prepares the student for Microsoft Office User (MOUS) Access Expert Certification, which is in the process of being prepared by Microsoft Office. Transfer Credit: CSU
