Critical analysis of architectural woodworking and furnishings will be studied. The course focus is on wood and wood products design, markers, historically significant buildings, and collections, both public and private. This course may be taken a maximum of 3 times. Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/6.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: WMT 102 and WMT 103 or equivalent with grades of Pass or "C" or higher. This course for the advanced student covers the history, design, construction and production of seating pieces. The student will design and build a solid wood or exposed frame chair or bench. This course may be taken a maximum of 2 times. Transfer Credit: CSU

This course introduces the fundamental principles and techniques of frame making for upholstered furniture. Topics include design, engineering, layout, machine woodworking and frame assembly. This course introduces students to jigs and fixtures associated with various machinery and processes in the woodworking lab. Topics include machinery tune-up, jig and fixture design, measurement, materials, hardware, construction techniques, dust collection, and safety. This course may be taken a maximum of 2 times.
