    Class hours: 3.0 Lecture Recommendation: RE 101 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher This course introduces the student to the principles and operations of the loan brokering field. The emphasis is on the lending rules for residential property, disclosures, maximum fees and charges, agency relationships, advertising laws, HUD/RESPA calculations and the loan process. This is an advanced course in real estate appraisal devoted to current techniques of estimating value. An income property will be chosen, analyzed, and appraised. The creative development of a Narrative Appraisal Report will be taught, and its completion will be the goal of each student. All examples are or have been real life situations. Great emphasis is placed on preparing the student to be able to walk into an appraisal office and begin appraising. Capitalization, reciprocals, land and building residual techniques are covered.     Class hours: 3.0 Lecture/2.0 Laboratory Recommendation: RE 53 or RE 131 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher This course covers hands-on computer training for students involved in the appraisal certificate courses or for real estate licensees interested in the appraisal end of the real estate business. This course emphasizes appraisal techniques using form fill programs for Universal Residential Appraisal Report (URAR), Small Income Property Analysis and Report of Value, Large Income Property Analysis and Report of Value, Land Valuation Analysis and Report, Discounted Cash Flow Values (DCF's), and the manipulation and practical application and use of the six functions of $1.     Class hours: 3.0 Lecture Recommendation: RE 101 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This course is designed to acquaint the real estate licensee with skills necessary to manage a profitable and stable business. These skills include techniques in research; office organization; managerial decision making; establishing controls systems and policies; recruiting, selecting, and training of personnel; and product marketing and other skills related to financing, expansion, and growth.     Class hours: 3.0 Independent Study Prerequisite: A previous college course in the discipline. A course to provide opportunity for individual research and field projects under the direction of a faculty member in a given department. With the guidance of the faculty member, students prepare and carry out a written learning agreement describing the purposes and outcomes of the project. Students should expect to meet with the supervising faculty member one to two hours each week for conferences. Credit is based upon the number of hours in the semester expected to complete the project (1 unit for 54 hours, 2 units for 108 hours). This course may be taken a maximum of 2 times.

Emphasis is placed on developing an improved reading method through learning rapid reading techniques, gaining flexibility in adjusting reading speed to suit purpose forreading and difficulty of the material, overcoming habits of regression and subvocalization, recognizing and using basic writing structures and literary elements as aids to comprehension in depth, and mastering speed study techniques and speed research techniques. All methods and techniques are applied to various types of college-level reading materials. Transfer Credit: CSU

    Class hours: 1.5 Lecture Prerequisite: READ 100A or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This course is identical to the second half of Reading 100. It is designed to improve comprehension while reading rapidly by utilizing knowledge of basic writing structures and literary elements as aids to comprehension, mastering speed study techniques, and speed research techniques, and applying all methods and techniques learned in Reading 100A to various types of college level reading materials.     Class hours: 3.0 Lecture Prerequisite: Satisfactory completion of the Reading Placement Process or READ 54 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher and ENGL 100 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This course focuses on the development and application of reading skills in the interpretation, analysis, criticism, and advocacy of ideas encountered in academic readings across the curriculum and Internet media sources.
