This course is designed for the student who is not able to participate in virtually any physical activity course due to a disability. This course is designed for the student who is not able to participate in the standard circuit weight-training program due to a disability. An individualized weight-training program will be tailored to the physical abilities and disabilities of the student. This course may be taken for a maximum of 4 times.     Class hours: 0.5 Lecture/1.5 Laboratory Recommendation: Completed adapted physical education physician health clearance for participation, adapted physical education health history questionnaire, intake interview assessment procedures. This course is designed for the student who is unable to participate in a regular swimming course due to a disability. Improvement in basic swimming and water safety skills along with other pool activities such as hydroexercises and mobility activities will be included.     Class hours: 0.5 Lecture/1.5 Laboratory Recommendation: Completed adapted physical education physician health clearance for participation, adapted physical education health history questionnaire, intake interview assessment procedures. This course is designed to develop the general fitness level for the wheelchair bound student through a variety of modified sport activities. This course may be taken for a maximum of 4 times.     Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/1.0 Laboratory Recommendation: PE 150B or equivalent, 17 years of age or older and CPR card. Competence in fundamentals of backstroke, sidestroke, breaststroke, crawl and diving. This course is offered with the authorization of the American Red Cross to provide students with Instructor Candidate Training (ICT), along with the Water Safety Instructor (WSI). It is a comprehensive analysis of principles of movement, organizational strategies utilized in presenting aquatic activities and advanced swimming skills. It also includes an opportunity to qualify for the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification. This course may be taken for a maximum of 4 times. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC

    Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/1.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: PE 150A, swimming, beginning or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This course offers instruction and practice in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Conditioning. Emphasis will be placed on personal safety, safety and self-rescue in the use of small craft, elementary forms of rescue, the swimming rescue, and artificial respiration. American Red Cross certification in Lifeguard Training will be available upon completion of the class. Students must be at least 15 years old at start of semester to qualify for American Red Cross (ARC) certification "Lifeguard Training and Community First Aide and Safety."     Class hours: 0.5 Lecture/1.5 Laboratory This course emphasizes the development of flexibility in muscles and joints to prevent injury and improve posture and body alignment. Relaxation techniques and stretching improve general wellness as they become part of lifestyle. This course may be taken for a maximum of 4 units.     Class hours: 0.5 Lecture/1.5 Laboratory This course will emphasize instruction and practice of walking techniques for speed, distance and endurance. Information on aerobic conditioning, heart rate, stretching and stress reduction will be covered. This course may be taken for a maximum of 4 times.   • 1.50 Credits

    Class hours: 1.0 Lecture/2.0 Laboratory Student will receive practical instruction in ways to improve their cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and body composition through various low impact aerobic activities. Lectures may include the areas of basic nutrition, body composition, posture analysis and principles of safe and effective exercise. This course may be taken for a maximum of 4 times. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC* *UC credit limits may apply. Any or all of these PE courses with ##'s combined; maximum credit, 4 units.
