    Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/1.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: MUS 117 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This course emphasizes the technical foundations of singing learned in Voice I and II. The song literature is more advanced and requires and understanding of a broad range of styles as previously discussed in the earlier courses. Ear training and musicianship require specific reading and identification skills. Stylistic interpretation is focused on, as well as performance techniques. Greater involvement with microphone and recording techniques will be encouraged. This course may be taken for a maximum of 2 times. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC

    Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/1.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: MUS 118 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. The course continues the student of diction, style, technique, musicianship, and interpretation that occurred in Voice III. Acting with emphasis on stage movement, characterization, and improvisational techniques are explored in greater detail. Singers will be required to perform solos, duets, and in scenes. Popular styles are required to collaborate with recording studio to create projects. This course may be taken for a maximum of 2 times. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC

    Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/1.0 Laboratory This course provides basic instruction in classical and other styles of guitar playing at beginning level. It includes appropriate exercises to develop technical facility, material for sight reading, study of basic chords, and repertoire. The student must provide an acoustic guitar for his/her own use in the class. This course may be taken for a maximum of 2 times. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC

    Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/1.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: MUS 120 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher, or audition This class refines guitar-playing techniques used in elementary classical, flamenco, and other pieces. Elements of improvisation, harmonization, and playing in upper positions are included. This course may be taken for a maximum of 2 times. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC

    Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/1.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: MUS 121 or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This class includes instruction in scales, chords, and arpeggios in all keys and positions. Included are intermediate levels of improvisation, accompanying, sight-reading, transposition, and the performance of folk, classical, and Flamenco styles. This class covers the mastery of the entire guitar fingerboard, a study of intermediate and advanced music in several styles, and the principles of improvisation and transposition.     Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/2.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: Audition The concert band is dedicated to the performance of standard band literature. Emphasis will be placed upon the development of individual musicianship through both large group and small group rehearsal. Musical compositions of a wide variety of styles will be studied. Required participation in concerts may include both on-campus and off-campus events. This course may be taken for a maximum of 4 times. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC

Emphasis will be placed upon the development of individual musicianship through both large group and small group rehearsal. Musical compositions of a wide variety will be studied. Emphasis is on a high degree of individual musicianship and fine ensemble playing. Required participation in concerts may include both on-campus and off-campus events.     Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/2.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: Audition The community band is dedicated to the performance of popular, family-oriented literature. Emphasis will be placed upon the development of individual musicianship through both large group and small group rehearsal. Musical compositions of a wide variety will be studied with an emphasis on medleys, marches, and overtures. Ensemble performance and rehearsal techniques are studied. This course may be taken for a maximum of 4 times. Transfer Credit: CSU
