1 hr. lec., 9 hrs. lab, 4 credits Prerequisites: NG 113, 143, EH 113, MS 1123 or 123, PSY 213, BY 154, 164, 224 Co-requisites: NG 124, 123, EH 123 Clinical focus is on utilizing the planning phase of the nursing process to formulate nursing behaviors and therapeutic interventions. Emphasis is placed on supportive nursing behaviors for an individual with an overt, unmet comfort, self-esteem, activity, or urinary elimination need. Therapeutic communication techniques are utilized in the provision of care for clients experiencing stress maladaptation.

1 hr. lec., 6 hrs. lab, 3 credits Prerequisite: Acceptance into the ADN Program, BY 154, 164, 224 Co-requisites: NG 113, EH 113, MS 1123 or 123, PSY 213. The assessment phase of the nursing process serves as a framework for learning therapeutic communication, physical examination, and psychomotor skills. Formulation of a nursing diagnosis for a specified client is emphasized.

2 hrs. lec.,2 credits Prerequisite: NG 113, 143, 124, 134, 123, EH 113, 123, MS 1123 or 123, PSY 213, BY 154, 164, 224. Co-requisite: NG 216, 236, 221, SY 213. This course is a nursing, non-required elective. Computer-based clinical case studies offer opportunities for critical thinking, decision-making, and prioritization of nursing care. Selected HESI and DxR Case Studies that compliment NG 216 and 236 course content are reviewed and HESI computerized test questions are answered to provide students with an opportunity to prepare for taking the NCLEX-RN.

6 hrs. lec., 6 credits Prerequisites: NG 113, 143, 124, 134, 123, EH 113, 123, MS 1123 or 123, PSY 213, BY 154, 164, 224. Co-requisites: NG 236, 221, SY 213. Concepts related to growth and development from birth to adolescence and the childbearing family are presented. The focus is on the provision and management of therapeutic interventions and restorative nursing behaviors that meet multiple, overt, unmet needs of clients across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on nutrition, oxygenation, activity, and fecal elimination needs.

Emphasis is placed on organization and communication techniques required to effectively delegate nursing care. Stress management, change theory, conflict resolution, professional ethics as well as the legal implications of management are explored.

3 hrs. lec., 3 credits This course introduces the safe and therapeutic use of drugs in the care of clients. Current pharmacologic concepts and principles, as well as descriptions of pharmacokinetic characteristics of the prototype drugs have been incorporated.

6 hrs. lec., 6 credits Prerequisites: NG 113, 143, 124, 134, 123, 221, 216, 236, EH 113,123, MS 1123 or MS 123, PSY 213, BY 154, 164, 224, SY 213. Co-requisites: NG 246. Concepts related to crisis producing stressors and crisis interventions for clients, their families, and the communtiy are presented. The focus is on the provision and management of therapeutic interventions and preventive nursing behaviors that meet multiple, overt and covert, unmet needs of clients across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on oxygenation and safety needs.

1 hr. lec., 15 hrs. lab, 6 credits Prerequisites: NG 113, 123, 143, 124, 134, EH 113,123, MS 1123 or 123, PSY 213 BY 154, 164, 224. Co-requisites: NG 216, 221, SY 213. Clinical focus is on utilizing the implementation phase of the nursing process to demonstrate nursing behaviors and perform therapeutic interventions with emphasis on restorative strategies. The student functions as a provider and manager of care for adult and pediatric clients experiencing multiple, overt, unmet oxygenation, nutrition, activity, and/or fecal elimination needs. Theoretical concepts of therapeutic communication are used to interact with clients, families, and the healthcare team. Client teaching is applied to promote wellness and stress adaptation.

1 hr. lec., 1 credit This course is designed to promote critical thinking reqarding the nurse's role in the administration of selected oral, parenteral, and topical pharmocologic treatment modalities and thereby, assist the graduate nurse in preparation for writing the NCLEX-RN licensure exam.
