3 credits Co-requisite: NA 107 This course provides students with an opportunity to engage in clinical learning experiences. Emphasis is placed on clinical competence of basic nursing assistant skills including communication, infection control, safety and emergency procedures, resident rights, feeding techniques, elimination procedures, skin care, transferring, positioning, and turning techniques, dressing, and range of motion exercises.

7 credits Co-requisite: NA 103 This course provides training in basic nursing assistant procedures including infection prevention and control, resident rights, transferring and positioning techniques, as well as activities of daily living. This course is based on the Arkansas Long-Term Care Facility Nursing Assistant Training curriculum and has been approved by the Arkansas Office of Long-Term Care. Graduates of this course are prepared to write the state of Arkansas Competency Examination for Nursing Assistants.

This course introduces the student to the concepts and principles of nursing practice and its impact on the community. The concepts of health and illness, stress adaptation, basic human needs, nursing roles and behaviors, human development, and decision-making are presented. Historical, as well as, current legal and ethical aspects of nursing are explored.

4 hrs. lec., 4 credits Prerequisites: NG 113, 143, EH 113, MS 1123 or 123, PSY 213 BY 154, 164, 224 Co-requisites: NG 134, 123, EH 123 The focus is on the provision of therapeutic interventions and supportive nursing behaviors to meet an individual's single, overt, unmet need of comfort, activity, self-esteem, and urinary elimination. Emphasis is placed on adult clients but includes selected pediatric clients with alterations in urinary elimination.

Co-requisites: NG 113 and NG 143 This course focuses on enhancing speed and accuracy of math skills needed for dosage calculation. It is specifically designed to prepare the student for the Math Competency Exam, which is a prerequisite for enrollment in second level nursing courses.
