Fundamental concepts of biology, including classification and diversity of life, anatomy, physiology, and development of procaryotes, protistans, fungi, animals, and plants; behavior; population, community, and ecosystem ecology. (4 hrs lect, 2.5 hrs lab)

Survey of women's roles in science and medicine including a discussion of the social and political (historical and contemporary) barriers to the success of women in these fields.
