The course when completed successfully will provide students with certification as a Wilderness First Responder. First aid techniques for remote environments will be covered. To receive certification a students must attend all sessions; achieve 80% on written exam and acceptable performance on practical skills listed. The course format gives the participants an overview of the mustknows of outdoor leadership skills and outdoor backcountry camping and select recreation activity techniques. Variable credit based on length of backcountry trip. A fee for the trip expedition portion of the course will be determined base on length. Typically Offered Summer Only

The course will focus on theory and application of marketing, management, budgeting, customer service and other business aspects to programming a club or sport complex as a viable community or commercial recreation venue. Partnerships between nonprofit/ government or commercial agencies to create public golf courses, racquet facilities, multiplexes, or recreational related activities in the resorts and sport tourism sector will be studied. Programming for tournaments, sports tourism, and sponsorships of facilities will be incorporated. Pre- Requisites: RMLS 428. Typically Offered Fall Only, Even Year

Introduction to the community and economic impacts of tourism development. Tourism is studied at the international, national, state, regional and local levels. The role of leisure/recreational opportunities is explored in relationship to the planning, development, management, and organization of the tourism industry. GIS software will be introduced.
