A continuation of RADO 104, this course concentrates on the positioning and anatomy of the spine, skull, digestive system, urinary system, and bony thorax. There is an emphasis on radiation protection, film evaluation, radiographic techniques manipulation, and problem solving. Student will be introduced to the practical application of PACS and RIS in the clinical setting. Prerequisites: RADI 104, 105, 121, 141 and 142. Typically Offered Spring only.

This course is designed to introduce the student to the basic principles of radiation physics as well as the nature, sources, and physical properties of ionizing radiation. It also introduces the student to the structure and function of the x-ray tube and other radiographic equipment used to create and control x-radiation. Pre- Requisites: Radiography students only. Explores radiation protection practices and policies that ensure the safety of patients, radiation personnel, and the general public including the proper usage of protective devices and equipment operation. Included is a discussion of the federal and state laws regarding radiation safety as well as the basic principles of radiation biology and the genetic and somatic effects of radiation on the human body.
