Psychiatric patients in longterm and acute-care settings will be monitored. Active participation in the development of therapeutic regimens based on toward and untoward pharmacologic effects of psychiatric drugs is expected.     College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 Provides the student with the opportunity to practice skills needed in caring for patients with chemical dependency in various clinical settings. An understanding of the pharmacologic effects of the major drugs of abuse and the ability to recognize the presentation of addiction or intoxication will be developed. The student will assist in the development of therapeutic plans for detoxification or withdrawal. Specific topics in addiction medicine will be discussed. Pre-Requisites: PHPR 640.     College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 Concentrates the clinical efforts of the student in the area of infectious disease and antimicrobial therapy. The student will become proficient in interpretation of diagnostic and laboratory tests and the use of pharmacokinetics in the development and adjustment of antibiotic regimens. Topics in infectious disease will be discussed. Patient presentations will be required to demonstrate proficiency in monitoring and an understanding of infectious disease. Pre-Requisites: PHPR 600.     College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 Special Topics in Inpatient Medicine APPE is designed to provide students interested in further direct inpatient care experiences with up to two additional practicums. By providing a wide range of concentrations, students interested in a specific patient population (ex: diabetic) may select placement in the Special Topics clerkship. The practicum will provide the student with an expanded understanding of pharmacotherapeutic, medical and social aspects of a selected patient population. Prerequisites: PHPR 600 and PHPR 601 Internal Medicine 1 and 2. Typically offered Fall, Spring and Summer.

    College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 Provides the student with the opportunity to observe clinical manifestations of oncologic disease and develop their knowledge base in oncologic disease through daily rounding activity. The student will provide pharmacotherapeutic information to the medical team. Emphasis will be placed upon demonstrating an understanding of neoplastic disease and the appropriate monitoring and use of antineoplastics. Conferences with the preceptor will be scheduled to discuss patient management and selected clinical topics. Pre- Requisites: PHPR 600. Typically Offered On Demand

    College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 Special Topics in Ambulatory Medicine is designed to provide students interested in further direct ambulatory clinic experiences with up to two additional practicums. By providing a wide range of concentrations, students interested in a specific patient population (ex: HIV/AIDS) may select placement in the Special Topics clerkship. The practicum will provide the student with an expanded understanding of pharmacotherapeutic, medical and social aspects of a selected patient population. Prerequisites: PHPR 602 and PHPR 603 - Ambulatory Medicine 1 and 2.Typically Offered Fall, Spring and Summer.

    College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 Provides the doctor of pharmacy student an indepth clinical experience in pathology, pathophysiology, and pharmacotherapy as they relate specifically to the neonatal patient. The clerkship will allow the student to expand and refine their knowledge base in neonatology. The student will round with the medical team on a daily basis. Frequent conferences with the preceptor will be scheduled to discuss clinical topics and patients. Pre-Requisites: PHPR 608. Typically Offered On Demand
