    College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 The clerkship will allow the student an opportunity to apply advanced skills in the pharmacological management of HIV/AIDS patients. Students will be assigned to manage outpatient HIV/AIDS patients within the HIV clinic and manage these patients if they are admitted into the hospital, in an effort to provide seamless care at time of discharge. If the opportunity arises, the student may be involved with clinic research or industry-sponsored investigational clinical trials.     College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 Provides the student the opportunity to observe and assess patients with various pulmonary disorders including pneumonia, asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease and pulmonary embolism. The student will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care for patients assigned to the pulmonary service of a community teaching hospital. The focus of this rotation will allow the student an in-depth experience in pulmonary medicine from the perspective of a consultant. Pre-Requisites: PHPR 600. Typically Offered On Demand

    College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 Students will observe and practice skills needed to care for patients in critical care settings. These skills may include: written and oral communication, drug information provision, therapeutic monitoring and pharmacokinetic assessment. The student shall become proficient in-patient monitoring, the use of diagnostic and laboratory tests in patient therapy evaluation, and the clinical use of serum drug concentrations. Emphasis will be placed on the student demonstrating an understanding of seriously ill patients and appropriate treatment of these patients. Pre-Requisites:4th professional year status.     College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 Involves the student in drug monitoring and surveillance of critically ill patients. The student will participate as the drug information specialist within the critical care areas of the hospital. Conferences are scheduled to discuss patient care activities and effective patient management with the preceptor and other health professionals. Pre- Requisites: PHPR 600. Typically Offered On Demand

    College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 The Specialized Areas of Community Pharmacy Practice APPE will provide the student an opportunity to advance the delivery of patient-oriented pharmacy services in specialty areas of need (e.g. compounding, homecare, herbal medicine, durable medical equipment, and other specialty needs not typically met in a standard community pharmacy setting). Typically Offered Fall, Spring and Summer.

    College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 Students will gain exposure to veterinary pharmacy practice, as well as achieve an understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of animals. Students will also see services available to both large and small animals in the areas of internal medicine and surgery. Students will be shown the types of pharmacist services that can be provided to a veterinary facility, and be exposed to unique pharmaceutical compounds and dosage forms used in animals. Pre- Requisites: PHPR 600 and 601 or PHPR 602 and 603; 4th year professional status. Typically Offered Fall, Spring, Summer

    College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 Students will gain an understanding of the application or radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic imaging and treatment of various disease states. Time will be spent at a nuclear pharmacy learning the basics of radiation safety, quality control, and product preparation. They will be familiar with the pharmacology, mechanism of action, contraindications and drug interactions of each type of radiopharmaceutical. They will experience procedural protocols of nuclear imaging in humans and possibly animals. Students will learn the differences between normal and abnormal imaging and the costeffectiveness of imaging in health care today. Pre- Requisites:4th year professional status.     College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 The student is provided the opportunity to observe and interact with patients requiring emergent medical care. The focus is on the development of clinical skills and knowledge required in the provision of pharmaceutical care to this unique patient group. Communication skills (written and oral), drug information provision, therapeutic drug monitoring and pharmacokineticpharmacodynamic assessment of medication regimens for patients requiring emergent medical care is highlighted during the one-month rotation.     College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 This experiential course will build upon principles learned in the didactic component of the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum with focus in the areas of the pathophysiology and pharmacotherapeutics of various surgical interventions, as well as pain management pharmacotherapeutics. Additionally, student involvement in research projects will provide application of principles of study design and research methodology. Pre- Requisites:4th professional year status.     College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 The student will round with a nutrition team which focuses on the management of patients requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition in the institutional setting as well as patients requiring continued care at home. As the drug pharmacotherapy specialist, the student will monitor the nutritional support of the patient and provide pharmacotherapeutic information to the team as necessary. Conferences are scheduled to discuss patient management and advanced topics in nutritional support. Pre-Requisites: PHPR 600. Typically Offered On Demand
