Students gain practice management skills including: assessment of patient and provider needs, development of a clinical service, assessment of physical and human resource requirements, marketing pharmacy services, billing and reimbursement, outcomes assessment. This course is designed to provide the student with the necessary training to provide advanced cardiac life support (ACLS). This includes basic life support, the use of adjunctive equipment and special techniques for establishing and maintaining effective ventilation and circulation, electrocardiographic (ECG) monitoring and arrhythmia recognition, establishment and maintenance of IV access, therapies for emergency treatment for cardiac and respiratory arrests, and treatment of patients with suspected acute myocardial infarction. College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 Involves the student with total patient care through in-depth drug monitoring and surveillance in the internal medicine specialty area. Clinical activities include work rounds, patient drug histories, discharge patient education and medication counseling, and review of patient case studies with emphasis on rational drug therapy.
