Work collaboratively to understand the uses of oral history as a research tool in anthropology and education, and oral history projects as a way to develop and enhance integrated, multicultural curriculum for students in grades K-12. Oral history is viewed as a strategy for understanding alternative voices, forms of curriculum and texts. Emphasizes interviewing and other component skills of the oral historian, including active listening, writing/documentation, reading necessary literature, collecting artifacts, and presenting findings of newly constructed knowledge. Emphasizes family and community involvement in classroom oral history projects. Fulfills core requirement in research.

Provides experience with quantitative and qualitative methods. Building on a literature review, students design research projects centered on questions deriving from their practice. Provides students with individualized instruction in college-level reading and writing skills, with special attention to essay writing, summary writing, reading comprehension, copyediting skills, and spelling skills.
