Offers students the opportunity to examine a number of documents, manuscripts, manuals, manifestos, etc., to gain familiarity with the terrorist's mind-set and react by surveying the world literature of terrorism. Seeks to provide students with the opportunity to understand the perspectives, themes, and continuities of the terrorist mind-set.

Covers basic considerations, guidelines, and procedures that help the crime scene technician avoid oversight, ensure thoroughness of search, and comply with both the legal and scientific criteria pertaining to the use of physical evidence. A competent search of a crime scene demands specialized training. Provides students detailed studies in the procedures for recording the crime scene-i.e., note taking, sketching, and photography-as well as the basic steps that minimize the omissions or contamination of evidence.

Offers students an opportunity to acquire an appreciation of the international perspective of film. Introduces international cinema and seeks to increase critical thinking and analytical and communicative ability through exposure to cinema outside the Hollywood tradition. Focuses on Italian neorealism, German expressionism, and the French new wave. Examines their influence on modern cinema from British and French films to the growing power of "Bollywood," China, and global/independent cinema.

Provides an overview of British film from the last generation with special focus on the themes of humor, social comment, patriotism, and colonialism. Special reference is made to cutting-edge British filmmakers. Is British behavior influenced by British film How important are British actors in major Hollywood productions Practical and artistic issues explored include the funding of British cinema, film as a reflection of current events, and the relationship between script and cinema. Film viewings are followed by in-depth discussions. Includes some "R-" rated films.

Focuses on the interpersonal and group communication contexts. Examines skills and strategies necessary for developing and maintaining effective personal and professional relationships. Topics include perception, self-concept, emotions, attitudes and values, nonverbal communication, language, and methods of conflict resolution in group interaction.

Analyzes the ways in which female/male relations are created, maintained, developed, or disintegrated through communications. Examines the influence of family, friends, the media, and "significant others" in sustaining stereotypes for both sexes and the impact of such stereotyping on the self and effective communication. Covers the use of verbal and nonverbal communications to understand the types of relationships between men and women and how different male/female language styles and usage affect these relations

Offers students the opportunity to explore British media organizations as social, economic, and cultural entities and examines specific determinants and processes of production. Areas of study include broadcasting, the film industry, the press, and the "convergent" new media of digital television and the Internet. As popular perceptions of the media often revolve around the excitement, glamour, creativity, and controversy generated by the media, this course attempts to separate myths from reality and to give students a pragmatic way of approaching what the British media are about and what working for them entails.
