Students are exposed to design exercises that both increase in complexity and scale as a means to investigate larger scale programming issues, complex and/or mixed social groups within the same or related buildings, and experiment with structure, form and frameworks as they support use, program and spaces for people. Students will be exposed to basic issues of sustainable design, community building through design, and manipulation of complex program elements. Research in the issues, materials and methods of construction applicable to these issues are explored including analysis of building precedents.
