Development of an individual way of working that makes the actor self-sufficient. First semester is a detailed review of basic techniques in behavioral reality, and the second semester is advanced script analysis of different styles, especially of the Modern Theater of Chekhov, Ibsen, and Strindberg, as well as Pinter, when the subtext of character intention governs the overt actions of the characters. Exercises, improvisations, scene presentations, and monologues are required. Prerequisites: TH 312 or permission. 4 hours weekly; 2.5 credits
