A study f the bi mechanical and physi l gical functi ns f the muscul skeletal system. This c urse c mpares clinical dysfuncti n t n rmal human m vement. Manual muscle testing, gait, and balance will als be included in this c urse. Prerequisite: PTA 100, PTA 102, PHY 111 and BI 201. C requisite: PTA 101 and BI 202.

The first f three clinical educati n c urses scheduled f r the summer between the first and sec nd year f the Physical Therapist Assistant pr gram. The student is placed in a physical therapy facility under the supervisi n f a licensed physical therapist r physical therapist assistant t practice the pr cedures and treatments learned in the classr m and lab rat ry during the first year. 160 h urs f clinical lab rat ry. Pass/N pass grading. Prerequisites: PTA 101, PTA 115, and a current C mmunity CPR card.

The student impr ves clinical skills gained in previ us c urses. This is the sec nd clinical educati n segment. 240 h urs f clinical lab rat ry. Pass/N Pass grading. Prerequisites: PTA 150, PTA 200, PTA 202, Clinical C mpetency Practical Exam, and a current CPR card.

The final clinical educati n segment f the curriculum. The student, under supervisi n f a licensed physical therapist r physical therapist assistant, uses skills learned thr ugh ut the previ us three semesters. Each student meets a specified level f c mpetency in a c mbinati n f skills related t the physical therapist assistant pr fessi n. 240 h urs f clinical lab rat ry. Pass/N Pass grading. Prerequisite: PTA 201, PTA 203, PTA 250, and a current C mmunity CPR card.

An intr ducti n t the clinical aspects f respirat ry care. Students devel p the basic skills used in respirat ry care such as infecti n c ntr l, vital sign measurement, medical rec rd keeping, xygen therapy, aer s l therapy, and chest physi therapy. Pass/N Pass grading. Skills prerequisite: ENG 020, ENG 060 and MAT 026. Prerequisite: Admissi n t Respirat ry Care pr gram, and AHS 129 and AHS 148. C requisite: RSP 106, CHM 150, and BI 201.
