Development of written skills in Spanish. Vocabulary is enriched through in-depth study of word formation, compounds, derivatives, and word-fields, with emphasis on both the basic and figurative meanings of words. The refinement of rhetorical forms is also covered.

Students will devise a search strategy and explore reference materials available to the Latin American Studies researcher.

Prerequisite: One of the following courses: SPAN331, SPAN332, SPAN333, SPAN361, SPAN362, or SPAN363. Dedicated to the literary production of an important author: Don Juan Manuel. By examining the interaction among writing, reading and the oral acquisition of knowledge in his works, special attention will be given to how the border between fact and fiction is constructed in the Middle Ages.
