Prerequisite: PSYC100; and {BSCI105, BSCI106, CHEM103 or PHYS121}. Not open to students who have completed PSYC410. A survey of phenomena and theories of perception including psychological, anatomical, physiological, and environmental factors important in determining how we perceive the world. Historical background will be examined as well as contemporary research.

Prerequisites: PSYC 100 and 301. Recommended: STAT 225 (or PSYC 200) and PSYC 305. A study of the interaction of physiological, neurological, and pharmacological aspects of motivation with environmental influences such as culture, learning, and social dynamics. Relevant issues (such as aggression, sex, achievement, and cognition) are discussed.

Prerequisite: PSYC100 and permission of department Restricted to PSYC and WMST majors. Formerly PSYC309A. Survey and critical examination of a problem in the community and related interventions. Analysis of theory and research relevant to the problem. Historical and current trends discussed. A student who has completed PSYC309 must have permission of the department in order to register for PSYC318.

Two hours of lecture and three hours of volunteer service in the community. Prerequisite: PSYC100, PSYC318 and permission of department Restricted to PSYC and WMST majors. Formerly PSYC309B. Apply knowledge gained in PSYC318 to provide interventions to individuals dealing with a community problem. Critical analysis of interventions and related research. Ethical and cultural considerations in the provision of services are addressed.

(Formerly PSYC 221.) Prerequisite: PSYC 100. An examination of the influence of social factors on individual and interpersonal behavior. Topics include conformity, attitudinal change, personal perception, interpersonal attraction, and group behavior. Students may receive credit for only one of the following courses: BEHS 221, BEHS 421, BEHS 450, PSYC 221, or PSYC 321.

Prerequisite: PSYC 100. A survey of historical and contemporary psychological views on a wide variety of sexual behaviors. Topics include theory and research on the interrelationship of lifespan psychological development, psychological functioning, interpersonal processes, and sexual behaviors. Political and social issues involved in current sexual norms and practices are also discussed. Students may receive credit for only one of the following courses: BEHS 363, HLTH 377, or PSYC 332.

Prerequisite: PSYC100. Research, theory and their practical applications pertaining to the development, maintenance and dissolution of human relationships. Processes critical to successful relating (e.g., communication, bargaining, conflict resolution), and issues associated with troubled dyadic relations with equal partners (e.g., jealousy, spouse abuse, divorce).

Prerequisite: PSYC100. Also offered as WMST336. Credit will be granted for only one of the following: PSYC336 or WMST336. A survey of the biology, life span development, socialization, personality, mental health, and special issues of women.
