3 class hours This course is designed to introduce the student to word processing applications using a Windows-based software package. Information processing basics will be taught which can be applied to any word processing software. The student will be 1-800-210-6932 111 able to create, edit, enhance, save, and print word processing documents using the advanced features of the software program.

3 class hours This course uses a hands-on approach to teach students how to create several types of attention-grabbing presentations using multimedia technology and how to create a variety of professional-quality business documents and personal publications, such as brochures, business cards, newsletters, and catalogs. During the first part of the course, students will plan, organize, and develop computerized presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint 2003, a complete presentation graphics program that allows one to produce professional-looking presentations. Students will make informal presentations using overhead transparencies, paper printouts, outlines, speaker notes, and audience handouts. Students then progress to stand-alone computerized electronic presentations that will include tables, graphs, pictures, video, sound, and animation effects using a projection device attached to a personal computer. The second part of the course will prepare students to produce a variety of professionallooking publications for home or business, using Microsoft Publisher 2003, a desktop publishing software package.

3 class hours This course is designed for students who have successfully completed CPT112. Core fundamentals will be reviewed. Students will further develop their keyboarding speed and document production skills through the use of advanced office simulation assignments and independent work. Grammar, punctuation, quality of work, and professional attitude will be emphasized. Prerequisite: CPT112 passed with a C or better.

3 class hours This course focuses on troubleshooting the process of investigation, isolating, and repairing problems with a computer. Installation and maintenance of hardware and software will also be covered.

3 class hours This course is designed to introduce the students to database capabilities of a Windows-based software package. Students will learn database basics that can be applied to any database software package. The student will be able to manipulate data using tables, queries, forms, and reports. The student should recognize the advantages of using a database in today's business.

3 class hours This course will introduce students to the insides of a personal computer. The student will learn to set up, install and troubleshoot computer hardware. Students will build a 112 Washington County Community College computer from components. Students will also learn to assist others with basic hardware uses.

3 class hours This course will introduce students to installation and troubleshooting of computer operating systems and applications software. Students will be introduced to MSDOS, Microsoft Windows and Unix. Students will be taught to recognize the needs of others and recommend software. Custom configuration of computer software will be introduced.

3 class hours This course will introduce students to database design. Creating, modifying and using a database system will be introduced along with querying and programming database systems.

3 class hours This course introduces students to computer programming, utilizing Visual Basic as an example of an object oriented programming language. Topics include: computer programming basics, the Visual Basic environment, properties, controls, procedure, interfaces and structures. Knowledge of these topics will evolve through extensive programming examples and projects.
