Topics include a review of fundamentals, the language of algebra, real numbers, linear equations, inequalities, graphing, square roots, and problem solving. Prerequisite: grade of "C" or better in MAT009 or appropriate score on the UMA Placement Test. Credits for this course do not fulfill degree requirements. CR. 3

This is a continuation of MAT020. Topics include polynomials, factoring, algebraic fractions, quadratic equations, and problem solving. Completion of MAT020 and MAT021 is equivalent to taking MAT030, Algebra I. Prerequisite: grade of "C" or better in MAT020. Credits for this course do not fulfill degree requirements. CR. 3

Topics include a review of fundamentals, real numbers, algebraic expressions, first degree equations in one variable, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, graphing, square roots, quadratic equations, and exponents. Problem solving and informal geometry will be integrated throughout the course. Prerequisite: a grade of "C" or better in MAT009, MAT020, or an appropriate score on the UMA placement test. Credits for this course do not fulfill degree requirements.

An introduction to mathematics designed to provide students with essential quantitative tools and concepts necessary for further studies in liberal arts and disciplines. Topics include critical thinking skills and real life algebra, word problems, graphs, probability, statistics, and techniques of data collection and analysis. Prerequisite: a grade of "C" or better in MAT020 or higher, or appropriate score on the UMA Placement Test. CR. 3

Topics may include set theory, logic, number theory, graph theory, topology and groups among others. Prerequisite: MAT021 or MAT030 or appropriate score on the placement test. CR. 3

This course includes advanced work in the topics of MAT030. Additional topics include functional notation, systems of equations in two or more variables, matrices and determinants, and radical equations. Prerequisite: MAT021 or MAT030 with a minimum grade of "C," or appropriate score on the UMA Placement Test.
